Couple Congratulated Upon Golden Wedding

Yesterday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bailey of Huron celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the ante-bellum Smith home near Jack's Creek where they were married. Brother Eli Reed officiated at the 1917 ceremony. More than 200 guests called to congratulate the couple.

Receiving with them were their brothers and sisters, Miss Martha E. Smith, Will Smith, Mrs. H. O. McCall, Mrs. Walter McAdams, Mrs. Ed Bailey, Mrs. Bert Bailey, and Frank Wadley, and their children, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Turner and Mr. and Mrs. Webb Helm. The two grandchildren, Steve Turner and Carole Ann Helm, kept the register, assisted by great-nieces, Sherrill McCall and Andrea Bailey.

Mrs. Bailey's corsage was a yellow orchid, and others in the receiving line wore yellow carnations. A beautiful yellow and white floral arrangement was the gift of the couple's neighbors. Mrs. Bailey, a former president of the Tennessee Rural Letter Carriers Association, is a member of the Henderson county court and a trustee of the Lexington Hospital. Mrs. Bailey served as a 4-H Club leader for many years and was active in P-TA.

Guests admired the century-old wallpaper in the parlor and the many relics of by-gone days displayed. The dining table was covered with a white cutwork cloth over yellow. The center piece of dark yellow and white Dutch irises and yellow carnations was a gift of members of the Lexington High School faculty.

Golden punch, petits fours, and salted nuts were served by Mrs. R. C. Riggan, Mrs. Harry Brown, Mrs. A. R. Wallace Jr., Mrs. Lance Bailey, Mrs. Gene Morris, Mrs. Clyde LaComb, and Mrs. Lewis Jones.

Couple To Mark 50th

HURON, Tenn.- Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bailey will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary Sunday. Bailey, now retired after 31 years with the Past Office Department, is a former president of the Tennessee Rural Letter Carriers Association.

HURON, Tenn., March 21. - Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bailey recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the ante-bellum Smith home near Jack's Creek where they were married.

More than 203 guests called to congratulate the couple. Receiving with them were their brothers and sisters Miss Martha E. Smith, Will Smith, Mrs. H. O. McCall, Mrs. Walter McAdams, Mrs. Ed Bailey, Mrs. Bert Bailey, and Frank Wadley, together with their children, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Turner and Mr. and Mrs. Webb Helm. The two grandchildren, Steve Turner and Carole Ann Helm, kept the register, assisted by great-nieces Sherill McCall and Andrea Bailey.
