During his life time, David researched the history of several Decatur and Henderson County families. His research provides important basic research on the history of families that now live or have lived in these two counties. Like all research, it is not perfect and is known to contain both errors and omissions. By policy, David's original research will not be updated to correct these errors but will be maintained in the state left by David. However, we are happy to publish the family research of any families connected with Decatur or Henderson County. We will also publish comments as notes to David's research. He married Delilah Crawley, daughter of William Mitchell Crawley and Sarah Loyd. Born, 1808. Died, 12 May 1886. Burial in Yarbro Cem., Joe Yarbro Road, Decatur Co., TN. Children:
1. William Mitchell[3] Yarbro. Born, 11 Feb 1826. Died, 8 Dec 1848. "William Mitchell [Yarbro] left home as soon as he was grown to work on a Mississippi River Voat. He died of Cholera in 1848 on Miss. River Steamer named, The Ammaridh. It was on a trip from New Orleans to St. Louis not far above New Orleans. He was buried by a friend on Black Island. They received this news from this friend who told them he died singing and praying." [History of Decatur County, Tennessee]

Jess Thomas yarbro was called Long Tom yarbro because he was very tall and wore a swallowtail coat. He moved to Texas shortly after his marriage.

John Wesley[3] Fisher. Born, 6 Dec 1816, in Buncombe Co., NC. Died, 16 Feb 1906, in Decatur Co., TN. Burial in Mt. Lebanon Cem., Decatur Co., TN. Census: 1850, in Decatur Co., TN. Census: 1870, in Decatur Co., TN. Occupation: Minister. The following is said to have been written by the Rev. John W. Fisher. The original document was owned circa 1972 by Latham Blount, Decaturville, Tennessee: "I was born December 6, 1866 on the road in Buncombe Co., NC while my parents were on the way to Bedford Co., Tennessee. Am now in my 89th year. We lived in Bedford Co., three years and went to Lost Creek in what was then Perry Co., Tennessee but is now Decatur County. We went from there to Phillips Co., Arkansas, in about 1821 and stayed there one year. Then came back to Lost Creek and have lived in this neighborhood ever since. I professed religion in 1823 and joined the Methodist church. I was licensed to exhort in 1840 and licensed to preach in 1845 at OId Center Camp Ground. My first sermon was preached from the text "I Am Now Ready to be Offered," (2 Tim: 4-6). I was ordained Deacon by Bishop Capers at Trenton, Tennessee in 1850, and was ordained Elder by Bishop payne at Paducah, Kentucky, in 1867. "I was married April 6, 1837 to Nancy G. White and we lived together until she departed this life May 23, 1904. To us were born eleven children, seven who preceded her to the good world. I am now very delicate and don't expect it to be long before I will go to meet the loved ones who have gone before me. I've had a great many to tell me that I was the instrument to God's hand opf their conversion and many of then have already gone home and will be there to meet me when I go. My address is Decaturville, Tennessee, R.F.D." [The Fisher Scrap Book 1730-1972]
He married Nancy G. White, daughter of Daniel White and Unknown, 6 Apr 1837. Born, 8 Jun 1820. Died, 24 May 1904. Burial in Mt. Lebanon Cem., Decatur Co., TN. Children:
1. Milton Brown[4] Fisher. Born, circa 1846. Died, 17 Jan 1938, in Dennison, Grayson Co., TX. Burial in Grand Saline, Van Zant Co., TX. Census: 1850, in Decatur Co., TN. Resided: 1933, in TX. He married Tennessee Yarbro, 13 Aug 1869, in Decatur Co., TN. Milton B. Fisher died from a stroke.

5. Other Children. John Wesley Fisher and his wife Nancy had 11 children. Three were stillborn. Four died as children: Evelyn (age 9), Thomas Jefferson (2 days), Nancy Green (age 2), and John B. (age 12).

Occupation: Farmer/Teacher. In the 1850 census Arnold Fisher is living in the household of his brother John W. Fisher. Arnold Fisher and his family moved to Weakley County about 1885 and settled near Sharon. "A Fisher Scrapbook" lists many more descendants than are included in this database.
