Decaturville Band's First Program Monday Night

from the collection of Dian Brasher

Friday, December 4, 1959

The Decaturville school band will present a program of Christmas numbers at the regular Parent Teachers Association meeting on Monday night.

This will be the first public appearance for the band since it was organized some two months ago.  There are sixty-three members of the band.

Jimmy Joe Readey, band instructor, is holding classes for instruction on Saturdays, since he is enrolled at Bethel College to complete requirements for a degree in music.

The band members have shown much enthusiasm toward that phase of school work and each of them is to be congratulated on their splendid accomplishment, in such a limited time and the [fine] band instructor, Mr. Readey, has done an excellent job with his students.

We urge every parent to make an effort to attend this P.T.A. meeting since, in addition to the short band concert, Miss Martha Kay Spelling will present an interesting program by her section of the fourth and fifth grades.
