JAMES FRAZIER, Forward

James Frazier, star guard and letter man of last year's quintet, roams the court as forward this year. But wait — he doesn't roam, for he literally flies over the court at all periods of the game. Frazier was elected 1927 Captain by last year's team. His presence on the floor inspires each of his fellow players. So there is no doubt as to his ability as Captain. When James graduates this year, Lexington will lose a hard and fast player.

W. L. BOBBITT, Coach

Coach Bobbitt, who has been Coach in Lexington High School for a number of years, has always turned out good teams. After coaching for a number of years, during which he produced some excellent teams, the team was coached by Mr. Dumas for two years. However, Mr. Bobbitt again took over the reins and coached the team for the past season. He also coached the Girl's Basketball Team, which was very successful. Coach Bobbitt is very popular with the members of his team. He has a way in which he can make a team do its best to win. Lexington High School will be assured of always having a winning team as long as Mr. Bobbitt is retained as Coach.

WILLIE SCOTT MUSE, Center

"Scoot," "Scott's Hill Will," "Waverly Bill," being Manager, was popular among his fellow players because of his ability to provide meals on trips. But the lanky center usually gets his share of points. It is said Muse never made a free pitch count when L.H.S. had gained a commanding lead, but he surely works his "rabbit foot" when every point is needed, Muse will not be in the fold when the signal for practice is sounded next year.

LEROY OZMENT, Guard

Perhaps the athlete who will be the most missed in L.H.S. next year will be "Mex." We cannot give too much praise to him as to his abilities. Not only has he made a name for himself in football, but he has also established a good reputation as a basketball player. "Mex" is an excellent man on the floor. He shines better as a defensive player, for he has shown great ability in breaking up opposing teams' passes. He excelled in taking the ball off the opposing team's backboard and bringing it out to safety. This is Leroy's last year with us, and he will be greatly missed next year. Wherever he goes next year, we wish him the best of success.

MASON CONGER, Guard

Those who have seen "Pete" in action need no introduction as to his ability as a floor performer. His opposing forward was never allowed to score but few field goals. Coach Bobbitt shows that he doesn't assign too great a task to a player by depending on Conger for only one goal from the field. This is said because of the fact that if "Pete" is shooting in hard luck he doesn't seem to find the basket until the last quarter. This rule, however, doesn't work always, because "Pete" was high-point man in a 36-4 victory, Mason will be greatly missed next year, and the student body joins heartily in wishing him good luck wherever he goes.

PETTIGREW HAY, Forward

"Pea" Hay is perhaps the smallest forward to become a regular in the history of basketball in L.H.S. However, his small size goes a long way in making him a fast man on the court and a hard man to guard, Hay bids fair to be high-point man of the season. He has two more years in which to earn his "L."

BRYAN SEGERSON, Guard

"Jake," as he is called by his teammates, has been a valuable man to the team this past season. This is his second year on the team, and he still has two years more to wear a L.H.S. uniform. Horvan has played a great game all season. He is a hard man to pass through, and he has broken up many passes for the opposing team. His passing has also been a great factor in the success of our Basketball Team. He very often has worked the ball to one of our forwards so he could make a field goal. As Horvan has two more years in school, he should prove even more valuable than he has in the past.

HAL MILAM, Forward

Milam for the second time will win a letter in basketball. He has an uncanny ability to make points when most needed in a close game by shooting many seemingly impossible shots. When the season for next year rolls around, Hal will not answer the call, for this year was his last to represent old L.H.S. in any form of athletics.

PRIESTLY HOWELL, Guard

Priestly came to old L.H.S. this year as a Freshman, and showed the right spirit by coming out for basketball. He is the only Freshman to play with L.H.S. the past season. Priestly's lack of experience kept him out of some of the games, but he is a very promising man for the future. Priestly has three more years in school, in which time we expect to hear from him nut only in basketball, but in other branches of athletics.

Total, 136; Total, 145

GUSTAVA MCPEAKE, Captain, Forward

This was Gustava's first year on the Basketball Team. Also she was Captain this year. Gus starred in every game she played this year, and she was high-point girl in nearly every game. She has two more years to play for the Black and Gold, and we expect her to star in every game in the future.

COBY THREADGILL, Forward

Coby has played her last game for L.H.S. She played four years, and was Captain for three successive years. She was the lightest member of the team, but she was a good goal shot and made most of her points on long shots. "Freak" will be missed next year.

SAMMY MANLEY, Guard

Sammy was the only Freshman to play regular on the team this year. She is a good guard, and usually holds her forward to a very few goals. Sammy has three more years in which to play for Lexington High School.

RUTH STEWART, Guard

Ruth played only one year for L.H.S., and she will not be hack next year. She was a very capable guard, and always played a good game. The team loses a good player in Ruth, and she will be hard to replace next year.

RUTH THREADGILL, Running Center

Ruth, who was voted the most athletic girl in school, shows in her playing that she deserves her title. She is a smooth player, who handles the ball well and shows great skill in working the ball to her forwards. She nearly always outplayed her opponent in a game. Ruth is a Sophomore, and has two years left to play for old L.H.S.

CORNELIA HUNTSMAN, Guard

Cornelia, who is known as the active guard, proved she was capable of running at center. Cornelia was a hard guard to score points on, as she always worried her forwards by sticking so close to them. Nealie will not be back next year.

OPAL MCNATT, Jumping Center

Although not so tall, Opal always managed to hit the bait on the tap off. Opal certainly is a hard worker, and fights in every game. She was good on keeping the ball in her own territory, and often kept the ball from going to the opposing forwards. Opal has two more years to wear a Black and Gold uniform.

RUBENA STARKS, Forward

Rubena is the short little forward who played this year. She was about the surest shot on field goals that played this year. Rubena has two more years to play in Lexington High School, and, with her past experience, she promises to develop into an excellent forward.
