The GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) was composed of men who had served in the Union army during the civil war.  The picture above shows the members of the Decatur County GAR chapter.  Most of the men in this picture probably served in the 2nd Tennessee Mounted Infantry.  The rooster was a symbol of the Decatur County GAR chapter.  Families represented include Wilkins, Adair, Parlow, Hays and Jennings.
