The following postmasters were appointed on the date indicated for the Dunbar Post Office during the lifetime of the post office:

• Robert F. Keeton - May 2, 1879
• Jesse J. Lancaster - Apr 15, 1881
• John H. Case - Jan 27, 1886
• James L. Jones - Jul 15, 1888
• Robert F. Keeton - Feb 14, 1889
• John J. Austin - Dec 26, 1893
• Joseph Moody - Apr 27, 1897
• office transferred to Bath Springs - Apr 30, 1901

Paul Montgomery received this information in a letter from the Federal Archives and Records Center.

The Dunbar Post Office was located in the Dunbar Store for most of this time but was moved to a location near Red Walnut for some period of time.  Some maps still indicate the location of "Old Dunbar."
