WILEY CROOK, CIVIL WAR VETERAN DIES
Arkansas Political leader and Former County Treasurer

PINE BLUFF, Ark., Feb. 9 — Wiley M. (Father) Crook, 93, Confederate Veteran and former Lincoln County Treasurer, died at Cornerville Monday night after a year's illness.

A native of Tennessee, Crook enlisted in the Confederate army before he was 18 and served in numerous battles under Generals Cheatham and Johnston. He was the only survivor of his original company.

After the Civil War Crook moved to Texas and came to Lincoln County __ [25?] years ago. He was a political leader and served three terms as county treasurer.

Survivors include his widow, two sons, Dr. l. F. Crook of Belevue, Texas and John W. Crook of Sherman, Texas; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Ora Newton and Mrs. E. K. Stephens; a stepson J. E. Barham or Cornerville, and one sister, Mrs. Jennie Brewer of Pinson, Tenn.

Funeral services will be held at Star City today at 3 p.m.
