Grandshire Holmes Cemetery Work Day
May 6, 2006

organized by Rande Miller

Friends and Supporters of the Holmes Cemetery

A work day has been scheduled for Saturday, May 6, 2006 at the Grandshire Holmes Cemetery in Scotts Hill, Tennessee.  It will begin at 9:00 am and end no later than 1:00 pm.  Afterwards, all are invited to meet for lunch at the Cafe Magnolia in Scotts Hill.

If you have visited the cemetery within the last year, you have seen the beautiful ornamental fence that was installed around the cemetery, thanks to your generous financial support.

You may also have noticed that some maintenance has been done, but more is needed such as raking leaves in a few areas, spraying poison ivy along the east boundary, filling in low places at gravesites, pruning dead or broken tree branches, cleaning the older tombstones to make them easier to read, and other small jobs that will beautify and improve the grounds.

Eat a good breakfast before you come.  Bring whatever lawn and garden tools that you plan to use (leaf rank, shovel, garden rake, chainsaw, ladder, pruning shears, etc.)  Bring water to drink and any other refreshments you need.  Bring a camera to get pictures of your fellow workers, your family gravesites and of yourself to show your family that you were really there working.  It will be fun and a great time to get acquainted with old friends.  We may finish early if enough people volunteer.  If you are unable to work, please come and be with us and visit friends you haven't seen in years!

For questions, contact Rande Miller at (731) 549-9681 or (731) 549-4107 (cell) or email: littlecreek@TDS.net.
